Participants in RARA's SCAMP Program

On Monday, June 23, participants of Rochester Avon Recreation Authority's (RARA) special needs SCAMP program took a field trip to CMN's Troy facility for a behind-the-scenes look at video production. Attendees got an overview of the equipment in the control room and studio, and were allowed to take up positions behind and in front of the cameras for a mock talk show. Everyone involved seemed to have a great time, including RARA staff! For more information about RARA's SCAMP program, click HERE.

Welcome aboard!

Graduates of CMN's Spring/Summer '08 Workshop

Congratulations to the graduates of CMN's Spring/Summer Video Production Workshops. More than 30 people successfully completed the 10-week workshops, which were taught on Wednesday and Thursday evenings starting in April. Each class produced a final project. The Wednesday class produced Community Actors Workshop and the Thursday class produced The Power of the Prophetic. Both programs are currently airing on CMNtv. The workshops ended with Access Ability, a fun quiz show that tests the graduates on the knowledge they've obtained over the past ten weeks. Pictured above are some of the graduates who took part in Access Ability.

Our next set of workshops will begin in the fall, starting with Orientation on September 4th at 7pm. For more information call (248) 589-7778 or signup online HERE.

CMN partners with local organizations

In April, CMN teamed up with the Royal Oak Community Coalition to videotape a marathon of Reaching Out segments featuring local organizations that have partnered with the ROCC. Some of the organizations that took part included Youth Under Construction, Royal Oak Sandlot League, Oakland Family Services and the YMCA, to name a few. CMN Executive Director Jay Wiencko (pictured above, second from left) sat in as host/interviewer on all the segments, which are currently airing on CMNtv. Pictured above with Jay are, from left, Jennifer Sheridan and Diane Dovico of the ROCC, Joe Johnson (CMN), Richard Granke (ROCC) and James Albee (CMN.)

Support CMN!

A CMN membership offers access to  program playback, modern digital television production equipment, facilities and the expertise of a willing staff. Any support you can offer helps to continue the availability of these resources in what has become a tenuous time for cable franchise fees (our main source of revenue).

Please consider making CMN one of your charitable support choices. We are glad to receive offers of equipment and props, programming sponsorship, or outright financial contributions.
