Linda, im sorry that you are so confused.

I dont know if you are aware that anyone without a MDCH medical marijuana card cannot even enter these shops. Dont even begin to think that your 12 year old children will be able to purchase medical marijuana.

Dont think that anyone without a card can purchase it. Cause they cant, and dont.

Anyone concerned about Medical marijuana getting into hands of kids is obviously ignorant. Kids cant buy it. Medical users cant smoke it in public. So you children should never even see it.

Dispensary's will not open on every corner. Thats an even more silly notion.

Mr. Langdon,

Why aren't the elected officials (who took an oath to follow and enforce the laws of The State of Michigan) not doing so?

And, are there any type of repercussions available to "the people" that would demand our elected officials/public servants be held accountable?

Thanks,

Skip Mize

My question and comment is in regard to the affect that medical marijuana dispensaries in homes will have on our neighborhoods. I live in a downtown Royal Oak neighborhood and within a one block radius of my home there are 16 children under the age of 12. This is a great sign of a vibrant neighborhood….young couples investing in the neighborhood and wanting to raise families there. Also on my, and other adjacent streets are a lot of rental properties, which is also common among downtown neighborhoods. My fear is there will be an influx of transient people renting homes and setting up marijuana “shops” in the neighborhood. There is no guarantee against this and it will only serve to ghettoize what is a vibrant healthy neighborhood, forcing people to move out, and further lowering our home values. I do not believe the people of Michigan had the deterioration of neighborhoods and cities in mind when they voted to legalize medical marijuana. This law is flawed and needs to be revamped to protect neighborhoods, children and citizens. In Royal Oak, our police have enough on their hands patrolling the downtown “bourbon street” nightlife, let alone a pot shop on every neighborhood street. To allow this element in our neighborhood is criminal. How can our elected officials guarantee that this won’t happen?
