Members of CMNtv and their families are invited to take part in the 1st Annual Halloween Road Rally on Saturday, October 11. Participants are asked to arrive at the studio at 1pm. At that time, everyone will be divided into (at least) six groups. Each group will be handed a video camera and a list of Halloween-related objectives. The groups will then head out into the community trying to rack up as many points as possible. After 2 hours, the groups will meet back at CMN to view the videos and tally up points. The footage will also be used to create a program that will air on CMNtv. Please RSVP by calling (248) 589-7778 to give us an idea of how many people will be attending.

We here at CMNtv are doing our part to be eco-friendly. A Recycling Center has been established where we've set up two bins to collect recyclable materials. One bin accepts paper and cardboard. The second bin accepts #1 & #2 plastic, glass and metals. A truck from SOCRRA comes by on Thursdays to collect the materials for sorting. Please do your part when you're visiting our facility and refrain from throwing these materials in the trash. Next time you finish off your bottled water, ask a CMN staff person to point out the Recycling Center.

The fall video production workshops got underway with Orientation on Thursday, September 4. More than 60 people, that's right, 60 PEOPLE showed up interested in taking CMN's 10-week video production workshop. When the dust settled four classes were formed, all filled to capacity. Classes will be taught Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 7 to 9pm, and a daytime class will take place Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30am. The workshops will come to an end in November with the next round of workshops slated to kick off in January 2009. Click HERE to register online.

CMN held its annual picnic on Thursday, August 21st at Jaycee Park in Troy. There were fun games, great food and good conversation, and some of the CMN staff are still recovering from the volleyball game that broke out. It was a great way to bring the summer to a close. Thanks to all who attended.

Our gratitude goes out to Ted Kazmierczak and Jim Lasak, both of Troy, who have been working diligently to come up with a system that allows us to have working tally lights on the studio cameras. With the switch to the VT5 system, we were unable to provide tally to the cameras, but with hard work and ingenuity, the cameras now light up! Thanks guys! |

On Monday, June 23, participants of Rochester Avon Recreation Authority's (RARA) special needs SCAMP program took a field trip to CMN's Troy facility for a behind-the-scenes look at video production. Attendees got an overview of the equipment in the control room and studio, and were allowed to take up positions behind and in front of the cameras for a mock talk show. Everyone involved seemed to have a great time, including RARA staff! For more information about RARA's SCAMP program, click HERE.

A CMN membership offers access to program playback, modern digital television production equipment, facilities and the expertise of a willing staff. Any support you can offer helps to continue the availability of these resources in what has become a tenuous time for cable franchise fees (our main source of revenue).
Please consider making CMN one of your charitable support choices. We are glad to receive offers of equipment and props, programming sponsorship, or outright financial contributions.
