On Monday, November 28, residents of Rochester, MI, braved a steady drizzle to kick off the 2011 Big, Bright Light Show. Mayor Jeffrey Cuthbertson was joined by Santa &#038; Mrs. Claus to lead the crowd in a countdown to illuminate Downtown Rochester with 1.8 million twinkling lights. Visitors to the downtown area can enjoy the lights from 6pm to Midnight every night through January 1st.]]></description>

The 46th annual Art &#038; Apples Festival took place in Rochester Municipal Park during the second weekend in September. An estimated 200,000 visitors enjoyed artwork from over 290 artists. The festival is the main fundraiser for the Paint Creek Center for the Arts, located in downtown Rochester.

On Friday, August 19th, 2011, residents and dignitaries in Ferndale, MI, gathered together for the official launch of the 2011 Dream Cruise. Mayor David Coulter moderated a ceremony that included a ribbon cutting on 9 Mile Rd. and Woodward.

On August 14th, 2011, over 350 classic cars lined Walnut Street in downtown Rochester for the 12th Annual Rockin' Rods car show. Organized by the Rochester Lions Club, the annual event raises money for Leader Dogs for the Blind.

The Royal Oak Historical Society is commemorating the 150th anniversary of
the start of the Civil War with an exhibit featuring Abraham Lincoln
memorabilia.  The Lincoln collection comes from the family of former Royal
Oak Mayor George A. Dondero and will be on display until the end of October
